The April BioBlitz at Seven Islands Wildlife Refuge in east
Knox County, Tennessee, was a huge success!! It was held on
April 17-18, 2009 and attended by well over 50 participants. We
butterflies, moths, other insects, amphibians, wildflowers,
trees, shrubs.... The weather was perfect! It warmed up just in
time to bring out lots of butterflies, several of which were new
records for the Refuge. The cool weather made for some
comfortable camping for those who stayed the night, getting
the full feeling of a 24 hour blitz.

I am working on getting all the results posted. Check back
often as it will come in in pieces as I get the data and time to
post it.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH to everyone who helped make this
first BioBlitz at Seven Islands such a success. I hope we will be
able to continue doing these there. We have talked about a
one calendar day event for this fall...and then one similar to
what we just did to be held in May 2010. Hope to see you there!
THE LOST LADYBUG PROJECT

I'd like to call your attention to this project aimed at finding
out where all our native lady beetles have gone. Please check
out their website and consider contributing to their
knowledge of where these colorful insects have gone. I hope to
schedule an outing where we visit a site or two and
photograph as many lady beetles as we can.
